Social Studies Standards (On-Demand)

Course Description

Explore the purpose of the Every Child Ready Social Studies standards and instructional strategies that support children’s understanding of social studies concepts. Participants will plan meaningful, integrated learning opportunities and examine how classroom environments can reflect children’s familial, cultural, social, and linguistic backgrounds.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

• Learn the purpose of the Every Child Ready Social Studies standards.
• Identify instructional strategies to foster children’s understanding of social studies concepts using Every Child Ready curriculum and resources.
• Apply your knowledge of Every Child Ready Social Studies standards by planning meaningful and integrated social studies learning opportunities.
• Understand the importance of representing children’s familial, cultural, social, and linguistic backgrounds in the classroom environment.

Completion Requirements

To earn 0.1 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), participants must:

• Complete the asynchronous training course.
• Complete the course post-test with a score of 75% or higher.

Practitioners may earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and/or PD hours, which can often be applied toward teaching certification renewals and other professional accreditations upon successful completion of course requirements.
